Bought this kit over the more popular basic set and Im glad I did. This one had lots more blades and is only a few dollars more.
I greatly prefer the all metal #6 handle in this set to the mostly plastic #5 handle in the standard set. Its got a nice weight, but isnt too heavy.
They both come with #1 and #2 handles, but this set comes with two extra #11 blades which are probably the most useful and common x-acto blades. This is in addition to the many other extra blades that come with this set obviously.
The way I see it, why not spend about 5 extra bucks one time to get the full set? This way you have everything you'll ever need and you wont have to buy much else later.
Overall, this set is very nice and has that nice x-acto high quality feel. The blades came oiled and are all VERY sharp. The wooden box is great for storage and the magnetic blade holder is a nice touch. 5/5.

The blades in this kit come extremely sharp and without imperfections. The 3 provided handles are great quality and are easy to change blades. The only complaint I have it the case. Housed in a nice wooden box is a junky plastic pressure-formed insert that was already bent and cu by the blades by the time it arrived. It is unfortunate that they skimped on the case but the knives are top quality.

I have been buying some cheap junk from Amazon and have been learning my lesson. I decided to spend the extra money for this xacto set. What can I say? It is well worth the money. pay the extra money and buy this unit. you will be pleased.
