Works well. Big. Jan 06, 2011
By Thomas Hall Just purchased this a couple of weeks ago.
Pros: - Heavy Weight. Won't move around a bunch. If you put a lot of force on the pencil, you may have to hold it down with a finger (e.g. not much pressure) - Sharpens pencils to a sharp point - Blue light shows when a pencil is sharpened and auto shuts off. This is great for my 3 yr old who would grind a pencil to a stub. - Motor seems to be a workhorse. I haven't had it long, but it has not even warmed up with the use I have had with it.
Cons: - Big. This has a much larger footprint than I expected, but I didn't read the dimensions before purchasing. - It takes a couple of inches of pencil to put into the machine. This just means you can not sharpen a pencil when it gets down to the last couple of inches.
Overall, I am happy with it. If I had to purchase again, I would either get this one or the "Teacher Pro" version. I am happy, though

So far, I'm impressed! May 11, 2011
By whizbang Being a middle school teacher, I see all sorts of harsh treatment of school supplies, so I was a little bit worried about investing that much of my own money in a pencil sharpener, but so far, I'm impressed!
It takes a bit more force than you would think to sharpen a pencil, but man -- it's fast! I teach in an inner city school where kids sometimes are not taught how to treat things respectfully, but they just love this sharpener.
My biggest complaint is that my classroom has become a revolving door because of students coming in from other classes to sharpen their pencils in this beast! If it lasts just two school years, I'll say it was money well-spent and will buy another one.

This is the last pencil sharpener you'll ever buy... Sep 19, 2011

Yes, Bob is awesome. In fact, he is so awesome that we had to give him a name. Thoughts of Crocodile Dundee saying "No, this is a pencil sharpener" and me saying "my pencil sharpener can beat up your pencil sharpener" come to mind when I look at him, and yes, I love Bob... as much as a man can love his pencil sharpener. Yes, Bob is a professional, meant for "high volume classroom and office usage", one that you can't help but pat on the back after said usage.
OK. So this pencil sharpener is pretty big at about 6 inches height and depth, and so big that weight and the friction pad on his base will keep him from moving when you push pencils into the opening. He comes with a 3 pronged plug and rumbles, not squeals - you can tell that he's a professional just by the sound of his motor. He also comes with auto-stop and LED light when the "correct pencil point is achieved", but I stop it a little before that so the point is a little blunter and won't break that easily.
Overall, we have no complaint with this industrial grade pencil sharpener sitting in our home, and right now we're actually kind of busy hunting through the whole house looking for more pencils to sharpen. So, see you later and yes, I highly recommend it.

Industrial Strength Sep 22, 2011
By Doug Urquhart This isn't a little battery-powered desk accessory, but a mains-powered behemoth perfectly capable of standing up to the drawing office or school environment. It even has an auto-cutoff, to discourage that childish game of trying to grind new pencils down to nubs (we've all tried it). Once the machine has decided that the pencil is sharp enough, it turns off, and lights a discreet little blue LED to mark the occasion.
Make no mistake, this is an industrial strength device. Everything about it exudes strength and reliability; it could have been built on the Clyde, by dour-faced riveters. It weighs over five pounds, and stands nearly eight inches tall. The styling is reminiscent of Bauhaus - it would not look out of place aboard the Hindenburg (well, apart from the weight). The mechanism is quiet and free from vibration: it would fit right into an office environment.
So here's the thing: it's clearly designed as a heavy duty sharpener, for industrial use, but it's elegant enough to make an extremely cool, and slightly intimidating, addition to any office desk.
Impress your colleagues and intimidate your opponents. Buy one.
And for all you Vine reviewers who got one and found it was overkill, how about donating it to your local school. That's what I'm going to do.

Regret purchasing this pencil sharpener Apr 20, 2011
By Natalie Marhauer It takes FOREVER for the pencil to sharpen. It may be quieter than other pencil sharpeners, but it takes about 15+ seconds for a pencil to sharpen. Too long when you have a line of kids waiting.
