Was replacing a Panasonic battery-operated that was about ten years old. It was a great sharpener and had a burr-type sharpener in it. was trying to find one similar and this sharpener said burr type sharpener so I decided to try it. I was not dissapointed. It sharpens as well as the old one so I am well pleased.

This is a great pencil sharper, I could spend all day sharpening my pencils. It helps makes my design a lot better as a result of the cleaner lines.

I have had this sharpener for six months but do not use it heavily. However, it works very well and does not take up much space on the desktop, The batteries give it some weight, but it is best to use two hands since it has no little rubber feet. Always gives me a sharp point that does not break.

I was surprised at how poorly this item was made. The receptacle comes off too easily, making it very easy for my 1st grader to spill the pencil shavings. The battery compartment doesn't fit well. Plus, you have to hold it in a certain way, due to the poorly fitting parts, in order for it to work at all.

X-Acto Sharpener does not sharpen Aug 19, 2011

This sharpener does not work. It is suppose to sharpen pencils to a precise point leaving sawdust (unlike regular shavings). The pencils never come to a point. While there is very little sawdust made, it certainly does not work.
I got this specifically for my art class and its been a complete failure. I would not recommend this product to anyone. It was a waste of money.
