Great set Jul 16, 2011
By Judi Unlike the old Wilton set, this cutter set makes large flowers. The cutters are good quality, sharp, and easy to use. When cutting daisies, it helps to turn the cutter upside down, lay the gumpaste on top,and then roll over it with a small rolling pin, to get cleaner edges. To get the most out of this set, you need to also buy the Wilton flower impression mat.

Great Set Jun 18, 2011

When I bought this set I though it was going to include a lot of stuff from the old set. I was wrong. I did not have the foam boards or small rollers. It was just a bunch of cutters and I had to buy everything else separate. On the other hand the cutters are easy to use and colourful and the plunger set is GREAT. There is a book inside that teaches you how to make 14 different kinds of flowers from roses to orchids to calla lilies and the daisy cutters are amazing. A GREAT BUY.

For Those Who Are Thinking "Can I Use This for Polymer Clay" Jan 05, 2012
By Ken and Bethany I'm giving this item five stars, even though it's not *perfect* for what I used it for. Then again, I used it for a WAY off label use..... I have used this set for making polymer clay flowers. I do also have the recommended Flower Impression Set and it is invaluable for using with this kit. I tried the foam shaping piece, but don't find that it works with poly clay. I have long since had the fondant modelling tools kit, and find many of them great and unique from items available for clay, but several are too soft. Anyway. This is a review for THIS product.
For Polymer clay: I do find I get cleaner edges when I put the cutter upside down, lay a sheet of clay gently over it, and roll a brayer over the clay, as was suggested by another review. The stem channel on the impression set doesn't work well for poly clay, so I just turn the leaf/petal over, place the wire on the back, and use a poly clay snake over the top of the wire and blend. I also add a dot of liquid poly clay at the base of the wire to keep it from pulling out. Make a "hook" at the top of the wire and add a dot of polymer clay as well. Otherwise, follow the instructions as suggested for how to make the leaves and petals and string them. Use your clay on the thinnest pasta machine setting, and you can press it into the impression mat (if you have it)with your hands or a light roll with a brayer. Give the mat a light spritz of water first to help the petal or leaf peel off easily. I bought the foam mat, but find that with poly clay, it is much easier to shape the pieces in my hand. In any event, the result is often very impressive and life like flowers that keep forever when the set is used with polyclay. On the thinnest pasta machine setting, the clay has enough flexibilty that pieces with wires set inside are bendable and poseable. (well, ones made with Premo, anyway). I imagine the set would work with air dry clays, as well, but would not have the same flexibility.
Anyway, hope this helps!

Great kit, great tools Sep 21, 2011

"Almost" everything you need to make a variety of flowers in different sizes. It's very easy to use. Depending on your preferences and how you plan to decorate your cake and what type of flowers you will be using, you may need other items. The instruction book is very detailed and comes with pictures with every step in making the flowers. However, it also suggests you use other tools that you would have to purchase seperately that is not included with the kit like the gum paste tool kit, which I also have. Buy the foam indicated in the book to make beautiful petals. It is essential especially when you want the petals to curl and look more realistic. Some of the flowers you can make with this kit are calla lillies, roses, daisies, and leaves. Instead of using floral wire for vines, I just piped it on using royal icing.
