This is not stainless steel. The surface has a coating very similar to the Zyliss ice cream scoop, which pits and wears away. I own the Zyliss and was specifically trying to buy a scoop that was just made of stainless steel. This ain't it, so I'm returning it. That said, I'm sure it scoops ice cream wonderfully as the reviews seem to indicate.

I've had the Wilson Incredible Ice Cream Scoop all summer, used ~ 30 times. Works amazingly well. Easily scoops the hardest ice creams, even turned my freezer colder and still works great. As a bonus it works great to chop in smarties/oreos of at-home blizzards.

Scooper worked great. Even with no "water cup" on the side to dip the scoop in, we still did not have a problem with ice cream sticking to it. Very pleased with it!

Yeah, I know, very original title...but I couldn't resist.
This really is a well built ice-cream scooper and really cuts through even the hardest ice-cream without needing to be warmed up. It doesn't do a very good job of creating those fancy curled strips of ice-cream like you see on commercials, but it definitely makes scooping ice-cream way, way easier.
This is the last scoop you'll ever buy.

This ice cream scoop is the only one to get. It is easy to serve even very hard ice cream because the points on the edges of the scoop allow you to dig into the ice cream. It is sturdy and durable. My son has had one for over 6 years and it is used almost every night with no visible wear and tear.
