If used properly it works Mar 19, 2011
By megan If you use it correctly it will work. A prior reviewer had issues with the thick sponge. The thick sponge isn't for shaping it is for cupping.
"Thick and thin squares are the ideal soft surface for shaping flowers, leaves and other fondant or gum paste cutouts. Use the thin square for thinning petal edges with a ball tool, carving vein lines on leaves and making ruffled fondant strips. Use the thick square for cupping flower centers."
Nothing special and not a must have Oct 19, 2011
By Adel Ammari Nice product, but i think its not very important, any soft surface would do, even the hand would do good too.

Too soft for me Jul 26, 2010
By Kathleen The thicker pink foam/sponge is very soft. Thinning out petals is particularly tough on the thick sponge. I like the thinner sponge (it is a harder foam material), however I think it would be even better if this was even 1/16" thicker. For now I will stick with the foam I bought from Michaels (the type that children use for crafts).
