Used for cake!!! Aug 03, 2011
By Love 2 Shop These are GREAT for sticking in the middle of a cake before baking. These help bring just as much heat to the middle of the cake, as it goes to the outside. Make sure you spray with cooking spray first!

GREAT SIZE! May 19, 2011

I also have the Wilton master tip set, and the flower nails they provide are kind of small. This one is a lot bigger and perfect for those large flowers that would fall off smaller versions. Great quality too.

You get what you pay for Apr 01, 2012
By Ernest F. Beckley
"Quality will be remembered long after price is forgotten."
Let me start out by saying I purchased these on the advice of a long-time baker, who claimed that by putting one of these in the middle of a round cake pan, the baked cake would not dome. I can tell you that while it will not dome AS MUCH, it most certainly still has a dome shape. If you want your cakes to come out some other way, don't use this method.
Now, onto the quality. This decorating nail appears to be just that--a small metal disc attached to what appears to be an actual nail. I purchased two, and the decorating surfaces were both bent out of shape. I tried to bend them back into place and one snapped right off. Note, this was BEFORE I put them in the oven, not after.
I was a little surprised because Wilton is not some fly-by-night company...I have many of their other decorating products and am quite happy. I don't think the nail that broke was a fluke, as I'm reasonably sure if I applied any more torque to the other, it would snap in half as well.
Treat these with a lot of TLC, and they'll probably be OK. Mine were not. 1 star.
