Great item. Better price with coupon. Jul 18, 2008

I love this set. I bought it when I first started taking Wilton classes. It doesn't have everything you need for the courses, but it beats the heck out of buying every separate. That said, the amazon price is WAY too high and not a bargain at all. You can clip a 40-50% coupon from the sunday paper, go to your local craft store (ACM**re or M*ch**l's), and get this for around $70.

Great collection of items in this set Feb 28, 2010
By Maverick Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2HVRJB4WZKIPS This product contains most of the items needed for cake decorating if not all. For a home baker the items given are more than needed, so you would not need any more additions. That is why this set is good. Check my Video review to see the contents of this set. Also, i have posted 3 pictures of which 2 show a detailed list of the items in this set.

lotsa neat stuff in the kit Jan 05, 2010

I'm just getting into cake decorating and have been looking all over the place for the tools. This kit sure puts practically all I need in one package. The Amazon price is a little expensive for a "kit", but it's definitely a better value than buying each piece separately. Most items are "retail" packaged within the kit. One reviewer mentioned there was a bag that's not Wilton, but it actually is, just doesn't have their logo on it. I think the quality is pretty good as well, for example, the spatulas are stainless steel... and says "Made in Japan", not other low quality manufacturing countries. The caddy is durable, but not elegant.. it's just like your plumber's tool box. I found more details from the website for this product before I brought it:
Getting back to price, generally Amazon got the best price. But I got this from Mi*ha*l's with a 40 percent discount coupon in their monthly flyer (here in California).

The book is an important part of this kit Sep 03, 2011
By M. Saavedra I just came back from one of the craft stores where using half price coupond makes several kits be similarly priced. I compared the 50 piece kit, 101 piece and 177 piece. The 50 piece kit had the most important things but I'd still need a few extras. The 101 piece was excellent because it comes with the Wilton book everyone loves for learning that gets excellent reviews on Amazon (sells for $15 on Amazon and didn't see it at the craft store) instead of 1 spatula you get 3, instead of 4 icing colors you get 8, there are other usedul extras like a cake leveler. All things that I will use eventhough I know nothing about cake decorating. The container was almost the same- a fish tackle box look- but the 101 kit had a blue lid vs the uglier pastel green. The 177 piece did not have the book. A big minus in my eyes. The container is also far more obnoxious. It's a huge plastic container that get lots of complaints because things don't fit. The tackle box style of this one will be far easier to store and find counterspace for when I'm using it.

So useful, but so ugly Nov 13, 2009
By Motea I'm a novice cake decorator, and I thought I'd get this big kit instead of purchasing one tool here, one tool there and finding I was missing something when rushing to prepare for an event. I'm glad I did; this kit has everything you'd need as a beginner. But the quality of the products is not first-rate, that's for sure. Things are on the flimsy side--but, again, good enough for the beginner, and at this point it's better to get to practice different skills, as many as possible. The toolbox the tools come in is also made of cheap plastic and is very ugly. Not crucial, obviously, but it keeps me from giving this kit 5 stars instead of 4. I do recommend it, though, if you want to get into cake decorating!
