It's a door spring tool Nov 27, 2011
By fromme2u_USN Got this to do my door hinges pins on my 97 S-10. Did exactly what its suppose to do. Just make sure you lubricate the bolt like the instructions say. Yeah it's one of those tools that you might only use once, but it is worth it.
Quick simple and does it's job Jun 10, 2010
By Lona M. Smith Removing a Door spring off a GMC can be dangerous, but with this tool couple of taps from a hammer tighten it down, close the door a bit and out it comes with no hassles. Putting the spring back is just as easy. A bit expensive for a tool you will only use once or twice, however makes the job so much easier.
Good but expensive Dec 29, 2009

I bought this and it worked okay for what i needed it for. The size of it made it very difficult to get the spring in, but it did work. The worst thing about this is the price. Harbor Freight tools has the same thing for only a couple of bucks. Nothing special about this, just a cheap door spring tool. Safe yourself and go to harbor. If you don't have one by you then buy this it is the same thing only way more expensive.
Fast, Safe Door Spring Removal Oct 08, 2009
By Spectator The Steck hinge spring removal tool worked as advertised. It came with instructions, but they are hardly needed. The tool is made from heavy gage steel and wraps securely around the spring. Once it is securely in place, tighten the bolt located at the center of the tool until the spring collapses. It took me about 5 minutes to collapse the spring and safely remove the door hinge spring. Well worth the $20 bucks I spent. I suspect it is very unsafe to try to remove the door without the tool
Good Luck
Solid tool Apr 30, 2009
By Doug I bought this tool to reinstall a door spring on my S-10. The tool was built well, and the heavy duty metal jaws held the spring well and didn't deform. I've only used it once, but it worked great and I think it could be used frequently without failure.
