I recently used this product for face painting at a carnival. This is a high quality set of face paints (as far as non-professional makeup goes). Many competing kits are too runny, making it difficult to layer paint for more complicated designs. I'm planning to use this brand again for the carnival next year. According to Snazaroo, this kit paints up to 50 faces, but I think this kit can realistically do 25-30 full child faces. This kit includes the following colors: white, black, red, yellow, green, blue, orange, and brown.
PROS:
- Lightweight, fast-drying application
- Easy to layer paints to add dimension and details
- Doesn't smudge
- Hypoallergenic and non-toxic
- Washes off of skin with water if removed within 2-3 hours; washes off easily with hand soap after that
- Washes out of clothing easily
- Gallery book comes with pictures and step-by-step painting guides
- Comes with sponges and brushes for application variety
CONS:
- Kit has a limited set of colors (buy two complementary sets to have a full range of colors -- the rainbow party pack makes a good complement)
- Lacks small, fine brushes for "detail" application

It says in the instructions that you must add water. Snazaroo face paints are high quality, easy to use, and gentle on the skin. My daughter has very sensitive skin. This is the only face paint I use.

We bought this kit because our 3.5 year old son loves having his face painted and we wanted to do it at home. This kit works well - it has enough colors to make several designs, the paint goes on well, and it cleans up easily.

I'm not sure how, but the package arrived and almost half of the colors were missing. I also ordered the 'girls version' as well and that package was also missing half of the colors. Very disappointed.

The paint comes dried, so you have to mix in water when you want to use it -- it was exactly as I had expected, so I'm not sure I understand the negative reviewers who complained of the "dried out" paint.
I can see how some of the paint colors can be missing upon receipt of this paint set -- there's no seal on the flimsy packaging. I bought my set from a local craft store, and some of the packages I checked had some of the colors missing -- probably from the dried paint "cakes" dropping out of the flimsy boxes somewhere between manufacturing and the store.
The quality of the paint in this kit was great. It takes just a tiny bit of paint to completely paint a 6-year-old face. I've used my set three times already, and my paint set looks hardly touched at all. Best of all, the paint goes on smoothly and evenly, it stays on much better than the cheap two-dollar sets I purchased from the local discount store, and it comes off easily from my boys' faces with soap and water.
The designs in the included booklet were easy enough to use: I'm a complete beginner, and it took me only 15 minutes or so to complete each of the more complex designs for my boys.
This kit has been great fun for me and my little boys. Well worth the money I paid for it. The only advice I can add is to purchase one of the three-brush Snazaroo brush sets that comes with the fine-point brushes -- it makes using this set much easier with the more complex face paint designs.
