 Decent marker, but not alcohol-resistant May 12, 2010

These are decent permanent markers, and they do indeed write on a variety of surfaces. However, in contrast to the previous reviewer, I found that they're definitely not alcohol-resistant (despite the claim on the label that they're "chemical resistant"). I work in a lab where we frequently sterilize equipment with 70% ethanol, so an alcohol-resistant marker is very important for samples/supplies we want to keep labeled! I tested this Sharpie Industrial, a standard Sharpie, and one of our standard lab markers (house brand from a scientific supply company). BOTH Sharpies dissolved immediately in 70% ethanol, but the real lab marker wasn't affected at all.
So for general permanent marking, these markers work fine, but if you work in a lab setting (or want to label your whiskey glasses?) I'd look elsewhere.

Do not purchase these if you're looking for markers for any kind of setting where you need them to be resistant to ethanol (or any alcohol for that matter). I honestly see no difference between these and regular sharpies, they were bought because I work in a lab and we always use 70% ethanol to sterilize our equipment and after one application the ink ran and came almost entirely off.

Great product! Write on glass, polished surfaces, wood, plastic, plastic bags and boxes, silver, copper, gold, not as well on some brass but I am not sure it was not coated.
It is permanent. I can erase it with acetone but not alcohol.
I don't EVER want to run out of these guys!
Now, If they will just make them clickable they will be PERFECT! Oh! and in more colors!!! O! O! O...

I love sharpies as much as anyone else, but I can't say I have noticed a marked improvement over regular sharpies. Writing on plastic still smears after drying, and I took a brand new one out of the box to find it dried out. They work fine, but don't expect a miracle marker.

I am a low voltage installer, I consistently label all kinds of wires and it really is bad when my labels smudge, these sharpies dont smudge once the ink dries. Regular Sharpies so smudge! These dont, and through Amazon you'll get a great price.
