Electric eraser Nov 14, 2006
By M. Nicholas Roberts

I bought one of these about four years ago and as a background artist in the animation indusry I use it every day. Well Its been through everything dropped on the floor countless times and still keeps going stong! I have to say that it is one of the best investments I have ever made. Where I work we have put it up against many different models of electric erasers and this one always comes out on top. Quiet, strong and has a nice feel, light not bulky and the batteries last at least two months with evryday use.
A great product!!

Small but powerful Apr 03, 2009
By Dan T I had to replace my old Sakura eraser because it simply wore out after 15 years. As an artist who uses pencil before painting over it- I use the Sakura to make changes. This little eraser removes pencil with ease. (I recommend too that before you establish a pencil drawing- try not to break the surface of the paper. If you do the eraser will get rid of the pencil lines but the indentation still remains- I call them "ghost lines"). After I have adjusted the drawing out comes the Sakura and it cleans up the drawing with efficiency and ease.
If you happen to store it for more than a month at a time I suggest removing the batteries so they don't corrode and hurt the contacts.
The eraser refills are white for graphite and light blue for pen. I have used the white refills with success in lightening areas that I have airbrushed with watercolor or gouache. The battery life is quite good and the refills will wear down on big projects so I always have an extra box on hand.
I have not tried other erasers- no need to as I am so happy with the Sakura. It is compact and doesn't tire the hand at all. It is durable too. It can be dropped and survive (although I treat it gently). If the contacts get dirty simply clean them with a pencil eraser (on the end of a pencil). If you are looking for an eraser that has superb control I highly recommend the Sakura.

the genius of sakura Jan 29, 2009

i bought the SAKURA ELECTRIC ERASER back in my first year of art school in chicago. i was in a patternmaking class and was so frustrated with erasers crumbling everywhere and generally not doing the job well. 11 years and several careers later, it remains a favorite in my toolbox.
as a boot maker, i keep it on me at all times. it is awesome for developing patterns. it erases lines, but also is pretty cool for subtractive sketching, which is when you draw and create new lines by erasing or subtracting from old ones. the best part of all is that it's wonderful for removing silver metallic pen lines from leather and glue from hard to reach places (ie. inlays, side bead, tight stitch curves and punches.)
it has a small tip for precision, boasts big torque, uses minimal battery power (i think i have only changed my batteries four times in 11 years), and the SAKURA ELECTRIC ERASER is small enough to slip into your pocket. i can't imagine life without one.

This is great for colored pencil and PASTELS. I work in soft pastels, mostly, the white erasers are great. The blue ink erasers are good for ink, pencil, and charcoal. Corrections are more exact, I just wish I had more refills.

A must for every artist! May 24, 2009
By Marg I am a color pencil artist. That means lots of erasing that sometimes must be exact. This eraser has saved the day. I had another brand that would slow to a stop once it touched the paper - this one has all the power I could need and easy to control. Next to my pencils, this is my most useful tool.
