The Parker Urban is an uncommon ballpoint pen, but a real looker and a wonderful write, so to speak. It has uncharacteristically modern, abstract lines [compared to other Parker pens I've owned]. The superb writing point and large reservoir refill are encased in a barrel, metal at the bottom, with a plastic top. It has a very sturdy pocket clip. The pen feels very comfortable to the grip, with a gentle narrowing of the barrel fitting right in the fork between your thumb and index finger. One turns the bottom third of the pen to expose the point; then it "clicks" into place as one completes the turn and "locks" in position. The top two-thirds have notches, perpendicular to the long axis of the pen; they look logarithmic in their spacing. The pen is bottom weighted [like a throwing knife]. That is, while it appears to be a heavy pen, it isn't. Only the bottom is metal. And it has a downward center of gravity making it easy to write with for long periods. Very chic looking. I purchased the black and chrome model. There is also a gel pen version and a very difficult to find, Urban mechanical pencil. I wanted a comfortable, smooth-writing pen for crossword puzzling. And this pen will make puzzle solving that much more pleasurable. Bears repeating. A strikingly attractive pen that writes well and is comfortable to hold -- at a surprisingly reasonable price!

From childhood I always longed for and liked Parker pens because they provide a unique writing experience.This particular ballpoint pen maintains this tradition and goes on to add a special luxurious look and feel when held in the hand or displayed in the shirt pocket. My friends always try to find opportunities to borrow my pen. This pen has caused me to engage in more hand written communication lately, simply because I like to feel the instrument between my fingers. If you like hand writing this is the pen to purchase. I recently purchased the white pen and was so happy with the shape and feel of it I had to get the black one. Very comfortable for this woman's arthritic hands. It's very attractive too. Ladies we wear nail polish and rings so why not draw some additional attention with the jewelry of writing.
I change the refill to a gel refill for ease of writing. It is so convenient that Parker refills are interchangable, no matter what Parker pen you use (the exception would be a fountain pen).

Thi is very elegant, heavy pen. Many people ask me where did I get it and how much did I pay as it looks more expensive that it is. Nice gift for a work colleague.
