I used Metal Ready on an area that had a combination of bare metal and surface rust. It's hard to tell if it etched the bare metal or prepared the rust.

Much along the lines of Rust Mortician. Very easy to use to convert rust and prep metal surfaces. I used it after steam cleaning an old gas tank out of a 1985 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60 prior to slushing the tank with a gas tank sealant also a product of POR 15. I have always had good results using the POR 15 products. This was no exception.

Metal ready works great. After first using Marine Clean on bare metal, it only takes 20 minutes to get the phosphate coating on the metal. It's nice that you don't have to paint right away and the paint goes on smoothly. Just follow the directions and you won't be disappointed.
