The way it is so difficult to find an oval or circle cut mat in my area, I thought it would be some kind of unnatural act to create one. When I did find an oval mat it was nearly 3 times what a rectangle cut mat cost. This item is a little tricky to start out with, but first mat cut almost perfect. Then I went to Logan's web site, watched the video they have on how to use it. Works like a charm! Couldn't be any easier! I actually think it is easier than a rectangular mat to cut. Set the gauge arm. Set the difference gauge. Center on your mat. Then rotate it a bit, turn the mat, rotate it again, adjust the blade depth and repeat 3 times. There you are! A nicely cut oval mat! Adds so much to any art piece and every one thinks it was so hard! I am even cutting mats with 3 or 5 ovals in them and putting several photos into one mat or using it to highlight several areas of one picture. Love it! Just remember to buy plenty of blades so you never run out. Key to a good mat is a sharp blade.

This cutter is all it said it would be and is a joy to use! It is just fun!
Description leading us to buy it was accurate and helpful.
It shipped quickly and safely.
The information and instructions were well written and easy to read (we are the tiny minority who DO read the manual before using the product.) :)
We did not try the DVD with either cutter.

The item was shipped and received quickly from the seller. If rating the mat cutter only, I probably wouldn't have rated it a full 5. It does make perfect ovals or circles, but if you're a novice framer, you need to make several practice cuts on scrap matboard first to get the hang of it. Also, watching a "how to" video on U-tube before starting will help.
 Worth the money if you need oval or custom mat cuts. Apr 19, 2012

Need more time to test, but so far so good.
Nice build quality even looks slick!
Note:This does require you to make multiple passes with cutter to get desired cut.No big deal though.
