I ORDERED THIS PRODUCT BELIEVING FROM THE PHOTO AND DESCRIPTION THAT IT WAS LIQUITEX CLASSIC PAINTS, INSTEAD I RECEIVED LIQUITEX BASICS PAINTS. THERE IS A DIFFERENCE. I WAS EXTREMELY UNHAPPY. HOWEVER I WAS ABLE TO SELL THESE PAINTS TO A FRIEND THAT HAS A SON STARTING TO PAINT. I EXPECTED TO RECEIVE THE PAINTS IN THE PHOTO.

Bought this set, which claimed as "artist set". Please be aware the original price for "Artist" set is way more expensive than "classic". Seemed as a good bargain to me. That's why I placed the order.
However, it turned out to be the "Classic" set when I opened the box.
The custom service said the amazon ad was wrong.... and the only thing they could do is to refund the shipping fee... sigh, i do not trust to buy things online now. what a hassel....

... and all the paintings I have made using Liquitex Acrylic paints over the past 30 years. This is a fine fine product!
Don't let the moniker "Heavy Body" throw you -- it's great for impasto, sure -- BUT it also dilutes well with water to whatever texture you want it to be. The colors are brilliant, long lasting, blendable to the nth, and it's just great fun to work with this brand -- always has been.
Since this paint medium is water based and WILL dry fairly quickly (depending on the color, the thickness and the dilution) treat your brushes as if they were the relic of a saint - don't let them dry out (unless they are part of your next artwork) and rinse them well before putting them away for the next session.

I didn't get my set from Amazon, but I have picked up a few of these on sale at a local art store. I love working with them as I can easily add texture and depth to my paintings without having to purchase a separate tube/jar of something for that purpose. Keep in mind you aren't going to get the crazy textures that you can get from the specialty jars, but you can do some interesting things with these paints without the added expense of the texture making agents. The colors are good and you don't have much shift from wet to dry which is always nice.

A friend of mine loves to paint so I got her this set. She was very pleased and likes the quality of these Liquitex paints a lot.
