Awesome!! Apr 19, 2011
By Barbara Donath
"Forest Love"
I love this little thing! It feels sturdy, the ring on the bottom makes it super handy, the colors are to die for! Not at all chalky, before I even used it I could dent the paints with my fingernail! You can use the lid as an easel for a 6x4 inch piece of paper. The waterbrush it genius! Here are the colors:
Chinese White Lemon Yellow Aureoline Hue Permanent Yellow Deep Permanent Orange Jaune Brilliant Vermillion Hue Cadmium Red Hue Crimson Lake Quinacridone Rose Purple Cobalt Blue Hue Cerulean Blue Ultramarine Prussian Blue Yellow Green Viridian Hue Permanent Green Deep Olive Green Yellow Ochre Light Red Burnt Umber Payne's Grey Ivory Black

Convenient and Compact Aug 25, 2010
By T. L. Stearns The Koi Watercolor Field Sketch Box with 24 colors is just the most amazing and handy little set! The watercolors are cake-style and are fairly decent quality for the price. The little case has a built in mixing pallet you clip to the side to mix your colors, a little dabbing sponge to wipe your brush, a thumb hole loop on the back of the box to hold it comfortably in one hand, and even a little built in water reservoir to dip your brush in--not that you'd need it with the awesome Koi Waterbrush.
The included collapsible Koi Waterbrush is incredible. (I also recommend Niji waterbrushes with this set for more brush size variety.) A waterbrush is basically a hollow plastic tube with a brush screwed on at the end. You fill the hollow tube with water and squeeze it while you're painting or mixing your colors, and it automatically moistens the brush tip. No need for a separate water jar! They're great for traveling and everyday use.
This set is the only thing I take when I travel now. Lightweight, compact and cute as a cat's nose. Paired up with my Moleskine watercolor notebook, I'm set to paint wherever I go.

Beautiful Field Kit Aug 28, 2010
By Grandma GG I purchased this to be part of my granddaughter's watercolor field kit. It is small, comfortable in any size hand, the colors are lovely. Each of the colors is in its own separate little indentation so she can replace them as needed with watercolors from her tubes at home. A lot of sketch boxes have squares of paint that set in a tray, so the colors cannot be replaced out of tubes. The advantage of using her home colors in the field kit is more than financial -- it enables her to use her favorite colors in the field as well as at home. The snap-on mixing tray has turned out to be very convenient allowing her to choose the most comfortable position. This is a well-designed product and we highly recommend it!

Great kit for travel Dec 17, 2010
By Bugeyedmonster2 I love the waterbrush in this, which means you don't have to carry water with you or find a water supply. The waterbrush has a little cap to the reservoir that keeps the pen from leaking.
This set is perfect for doing a little watercolor sketching on your lunch break or while you wait for the bus. The colors are a little 'chalky' but look very nice once on the paper. (Colors are not as vibrant as the Van Gogh or the Winsor & Newton ones.) But it's still a good set. Get it with a Moleskine watercolor pocketbook and you're ready for some sketching.
The colors are also listed as AP non-toxic, so you don't have to worry if you get paint on your hands while eating your lunch.
This set is good not only for the beginner, but also for the advanced artist.

I love this Sketch Box Jul 29, 2011

I bought the 24 color set because although I limit the color in each a painting I like a choice of colors. The colors are clear and crisp and blend well.
I also love the water brush that came with the set, perfect for painting outside without having to worry about carrying a water bottle and spills.
The box has a pallet that can attach in different ways, great for a lefty like me. Also the box has a nifty ring in the bottom that keeps you from dropping it when you are painting and holding it with one hand, and it has room to place a small watercolor block or paper in the front. I'm enjoying this set so much, especially for outdoor painting.
