Amazing Product But You Have Apply With Care Mar 13, 2006
By cm RaggTopp is the defacto waterproofing protectant and revitalization product to use on Vinyl and Cloth convertible tops. This item is intended for Cloth tops only. There is another version for use on Vinyl tops. Before using this product you must first clean the top using a cleaner like that made by RaggTopp. Once the top is dry then you have to drape your car with sheets to avoid getting overspray on windows and paint. It would not be the end of the world if you got this stuff on the paint or glass but you have to wipe it up promptly with clean towels, turning regularly to get rid of it. With the top down and the windows up i laid out a bed sheet and then closed the top over it. then cover the back deck of the car and the rear window when spraying. you must hold the spray very high over the car and make broad sweeping motions. allow the spray to gently rain down on the top. if outdoors this would be hard to do on a windy day. if hold the can too close to the top when you spray you will end up with white lines that make your top look horrible. i did this the first time and had to clean the top and start over. with the can held high you get a light even mist covering the top. you let it dry and repeat the spraying process. once completely dry your top will once again have what seems like factory fresh water repellant abilities... water beads up like when the top as new. i wish that the instruction that came with it were as detailed as these and hope that these note help you rejuvenate your cloth top.
i rate this item 4 out of 5 becuase the included instructions were lousy. they could have easily been made more complete like my one notes above and saved me lots of time in getting this job done. but the product works like nothing else.

I've used this for 3 "generations" Dec 22, 2008

"Great service makes a product even better!"
I'm on my 3rd BMW convertible - 1994, 2000, 2005 (see a pattern?) - and I have used the RaggTopp Convertible Top Fabric Protectant on every one of them. All have black fabric tops.
If you are new to this product read below on tips to help you apply it. Here are the reasons why I'm giving it 5 stars: cost, time, ease-of-use:
Cost: For what it costs (less than $20) you are really getting your money's worth by extending the life of your fabric top. Before I use this product, water would be absorbed into the fabric. After I use this product, the water beads up and rolls off the top.
Time: It takes me 30 minutes (depending on drying time) to apply 2 coats of this product. 1 can should be enough to give you 2 coats and I would recommend doing 2 coats.
Ease of Use: Follow the instructions by shaking the can and spraying. Use goggles and dust guard to protect your eyes and nose.
TIPS:
- Don't use on a windy day.
- Use on a warm day to allow it to dry.
- Wash your top clean before using this product.
- When applying the product, cut out a 10 inch x 20 inch piece of cardboard to protect the windows and paint.
- You don't need to tape everything up. If you overspray, wipe it off before it dries.
- Use the whole can to get 2 coats.
- Reapply every year.
- Make sure you do this before the rain or snow season.

Raggtopp is Excellent for fabric tops Mar 30, 2006
By C. Perry I cringe when I see soaking wet tops on other cars, so take care of your canvas, okay? Pretty much everyone in the Boxster community (see ppbb.com) uses Raggtopp on their fabric tops. A bottle of the Raggtop cleaner lasts quite for years, while a can of the spray protectant (this product) lasts about 2 or 3 treatments, so plan on buying a can each year or so. End result is a waterproof top that beads up all water like no other. I have never seen any discoleration as described in another review here, and can't see how the fabric product would change the color on a fabric top. Bonus: the price here via Amazon is about as good as it gets.

Works great! Jan 15, 2011
By Justin M I bought a used '99 lincoln town car and I was having a hard time figuring out what to use for the hard cloth top thing. Well I decided on this because when it rains it just gets soaked. I applied it once then tried to do a second coat and ran out half way so its repelling water great on the side that got the 2 coats but the other side still soaks up water a bit. Since it was the first time using it and the top of my car is pretty big I can say for sure that I probably just wasn't going fast enough and its my fault. But it is awesome to see water just roll right off and this product is great and I'm gonna get another can to get it better.

Great product!! Sep 02, 2009
By J. Foy Best fabric convertible top protector on the market. Recommended by all major auto convertible manufacturers. Use in garage if possible. Do not use outside on a windy day as you don't want overspray on paint or glass. If you do get spray on paint or glass, just wipe off with dry cloth. Recommend at least 2 coats. Three would be even better and give good protection for a full year. One can should provide enough product for 3 light coats.
