Perfect for hanging Christmas light on the inside of the window Dec 04, 2011
By M. Eaton I used these command clips to hang Christmas light (icicles) on the inside window sill and it is the best fit for the job. The clip is 1/2" W and 3/4" L, crystal clear, and able to hold two and maybe three 22 AWG cables (my icicles lights have 3 wire intertwined together). Before hanging the clips up, I followed the instruction of cleaning the area with isopropyl rubbing alcohol (not household cleaners), attaching the strips to the clips, applying 30 seconds of pressure to the clip against the wall, and waiting 1 hour before hanging the lights. So far, the lights are hanging up with no issues.
Here are some warnings and notes on the back of package: 1) Do not use with wallpaper 2) May not adhere well to vinyl surfaces. Some window cases are made of vinyl. 3) Do not use for antiques, heirlooms, or other valuable or irreplaceable items 3) Do not hangs things over beds [There goes my idea of hanging a chandelier over the bed with these :) ] 4) Use only one hook per item hung 5) Apply to surfaces above 50F (10C) 6) Adhesive could lose adhesion above 105F (40C)

Great product; annoying packaging & "fatal" flaw Dec 24, 2011
By buffydork6 I bought these command clips to hang up Christmas lights around the ceiling in my apartment. When I was ready to start using the clips and hang the lights, I was met with frustration before anything could begin because the stupid package is SO tamper evident that I almost cut two of my fingers trying to open it!
After dealing with the demon that was the packaging, these clips were a dream. I had already had experience using command strips products before (bedroom mirror, shower hanger hook, etc.) but had never purchased this particular item. I have always followed directions and waited the hour or so after adhering the strips/hooks BEFORE hanging anything.
I love that the entire hook is clear and doesn't stick out very much. I was a little bit nervous (even while putting up the hooks) that they were going to be too small to fit the triple wire of my Christmas lights. It ended up being okay that the hooks actually WERE too small to fit all three of the wires, because I was able to fit TWO of the wires and use the third wire to further camouflage the hooks. I was also afraid that the hooks wouldn't hold the weight of the lights, but they held up as if there was nothing on them at all (that could be because I used all 40 hooks to hang the lights, but still). The other thing that I loved about them is that you can position them in any orientation and they do their job. I used them straight upright, sideways and diagonally, and they held the wire equally.
What I DIDN'T like about the hooks is that they are so small that the white command tab sticks out almost as wide as the hook itself. If I were to hang something smaller (that would make the hook more prominent) in the future, the stupid strip would probably stick out like a sore thumb. What makes it even worse is that there are giant gray letters that say (3M) on the strip, so it's not like they would blend into white walls.
So, if you are going to hang something that is large or that will just be able to cover the hook almost completely or entirely, then these hooks are amazing (as they were for me). But, if you are going to hang something very small or that will hang below the hooks, then the eyesore mentioned above might bother you. Which is why I can't give it 5 stars.

Works well as expected Nov 05, 2009
By Bargain Seeker I've used many 3M adhesive products and they work well as long as you have a clean smooth surface to apply them too. I actually used these on my closet door to hang up all my necklaces.

Love Command Strips! Feb 16, 2012
By California Mom I love Command Strips, I needed some to hand a banner from my mantle so I wanted the smaller clear ones. I wish Amazon had included more details about this item because what I received is NOT what was pictured. The picture shows clear tabs, and the size that hold a 1/2 pound. What arrived what white, and smaller than the image. These hooks are TINY, you can hang a necklace but that is about it. I would say they are about 1/2 inch tall, the command strip goes sideways to hold them so it can be a little awkward depending on your space. amazon offered to let me return them but I kept them because they will work for hanging costume jewelry in my closet. So -2 stars for the sizing issues and Amazon being unclear.

hiding the strip Dec 24, 2011
By Dana I noticed a few people mentioned seeing the 3M printed strip sticking out "like a sore thumb" under their hook. I used these to hang decorations on the paneling in my kitchen and bath, and of course I wanted to hang things where there were no studs. To hide the strips, I simply painted the strips with leftover paint from my walls. In the case of the white kitchen walls, I cheated and used white out, like you'd use on paper. You barely notice the strips now.
