better than krylon, sem, rustoleum Jan 27, 2010
By TwistedAutoWorks this clearcoat is a high quality 1k clearcoat. better gloss than krylon, sem, rustoleum. smells a bit like pine trees, rather stinky stuff. let that be a reminder to wear a respirator while spraying it. holds up well on interior surfaces not exposed to sunlight.
Excellent clear coat. Mar 24, 2012
By James Plunkett This is by far the best clear coat I've used. It is the only rattle-can coating I've found that gives results similar to a full compressor/spray gun/booth setup. I use it professionally on small products and touch-up (the larger parts and long runs get sent out, as we don't have a spray booth in the shop).
This gives a very clear, high glass coating with high build. It is even somewhat forgiving on surface imperfections, and gives a good indication of how a given level of prep will coat with the full spray setup.
I have not found the round spray pattern to be a problem. Even though others complain about it, I'm not sure I agree that a fan spray pattern would be nicer, as this nozzle gives me full symmetric coverage. Yes, you do have to keep it moving, but that is true of any spray painting -- always start the spray off the part, move across, and release the trigger momentarily for the turn-around. You really have to distinctly stop in one spot fairly long to get the bubbles, and you'll probably also get runs with that long a hold. The only actual negative I can think of is that it is really smelly, so use it outdoors or with VERY good ventilation. Even if you spray it outside and bring the parts in, it will outgas for some time and probably smell up your shop for a day or two.
Great stuff -- I've relied on this clear coat since I found it and it is great to be able to get it at Amazon now for a bit better price than I used to get it.
Pretty Good For A Rattle Can Jul 27, 2011
By rudyg81 I've used many rattle can clear coats and this stuff is the best by far, but expensive @ $19.99 per can free ship from TCPGlobal. Doesn't cloud up like the others I have used and lays down pretty thick. I agree with the other comment left about not having a fan spray. It sprays a round pattern. Fan pattern would be better. It works fine for me and I haven't any problems with any bubbles. This stuff is very very smelly. Smells like you are spraying acetone. I bought a PREVAL spray gun for $5.99 Locally and going to see how that works with some House of Kolor UC35 I have. That gun also sprays round. Just need something for now until I get a shop. Then I will have somewhere to put a huge 15CFM or better air compressor needed to spray those HVLP Guns correctly. Only other option I have for now that would work with my 6CFM @ 45PSI compressor would be to use a pressure pot and at $300.00 for a good set up I will try to find something cheaper for now. U-POL #1 Or Maybe the PREVAL spray gun but I have to try That one first.

Probably a good product, but hamstrung by a horrid spray nozzle. Feb 22, 2011

As a car guy who has used a ton of finish materials -both rattle can and paint gun shot, I have to say that this is the worst product I've ever used -for one reason. Whoever designed the tip for these cans needs to switch careers to something less technical, like designing crayons. The material itself seems ok (about as chemically hot as rattle can gets -be sure to use a respirator), but the tip is abysmal -the fan pattern is so concentrated (basically 3/4"-ish round) that lingering a millisecond(literally)too long in one spot will leave you with a pile of air bubbles that has to be sanded out, which will require you to penetrate the clear you just shot and do it all over again. Stay clear of this junk unless you have a different can nozzle with an intelligently thought out fan pattern that'll fit this can. (just tried a Montana Gold tip -and it looks like it'll work, so problem solved -I hope...) The product seems fine -but that tip is guaranteed to ruin the job if you're not uber-careful.
