I've been using Prismacolor markers since I was thirteen. My father gave me my first set- hand me downs he'd used in art school in the early nineties. In fact, some of those markers are still part of the set I use today, just as wet and clear and colorful as they were some fifteen-plus years ago. That should be your first hint as to the quality of these markers. You can tell Prismacolor takes their products very seriously, and I appreciate that as a customer.

I use these markers for fine art, and have never once been disappointed. They saturate, layer and blend well, they are pigment-true, they don't fade, they last. I'm a fan for life.

As for the smell, "fish and gasoline" isn't quite how I'd describe it. It's more of an "Everclear and hairspray". It's never bothered me and in fact, to this day it simply evokes good memories of being at my drawing table working on something awesome.

I have to agree with Marcus that these are one of, if not some of the best markers you will ever use. I myself use them for coloring graffiti pieces on paper; it really brings life to your project. Highly recommended if you have the money to spare.

This is a really nice set, but I am colorblind, so I was not able to enjoy this as much as I thought I would. Really, most of the colors are almost the same. Plus, all of the markers have that gasoline-and-fish smell.
