The best Jan 25, 2010

This stuff is great!! If your vinyl is tired looking and not torn up, give this a shot. It goes on easily and stays put. I haven't tried it on the carpet yet, but so far (dash parts) it works great. Good product!

Tried other carpet and vinyl dyes but this one worked! Jan 27, 2011
By Jeff Harthoorn If you're trying to dye carpet in your car or the vinyl on your doors then this is the ONLY product I can reccomend. I tried RIT, FAIL! I've tried others too without any luck so took a chance on this and had UNREAL success. Make sure you use in a WELL VENTILATED AREA because the fumes are STRONG and follow the directions for carpet to the letter and you'll have factory looking results. I had never used VHT products before and now I'll never use anything else!

Black Satin Paint Oct 31, 2008

Poor coverage on cloth Feb 03, 2012
By D. Alexander I bought this product to recolor a red cloth car seat from an early-90s Honda. It looks and applies like black spraypaint. For coloring the plastic seat attachments, it worked well enough, applying evenly and holding the color when dry.
Cloth was another story. When this paint is wet, it looks great: shiny, soft, and solidly black. When it dries, the color fades dramatically. After the first coat, my seat ended up looking an uneven, darker red. Two more coats offered few improvements; the red color is still visible and the cloth texture is stiffer by half than it was originally. Not uncomfortably so, but noticeable. On the upside, the stuff doesn't appear to rub off.
Put succinctly: it's fine for smooth surfaces. I wouldn't buy it recolor carpeting, soft suede, or cloth.
