Not a bad projector, very straight forward...kind of primitive. Focus is controlled by sliding the black lens housing in and out, which is not exactly a precise method, so it takes some time to get the image as sharp as possible. The light is fairly weak, so you really need a dark room to get the level of detail you'll need if you're working on an intricate picture. Lens quality is okay.
Pros: inexpensive, larger than average original picture size of 5" x 5", normal replacement bulb, lightweight (almost too lightweight--the power cable has the tendancy to cause the unit to slide on slick surfaces if the cable hangs)
Cons: dim, so a dark room is necessary; if projecting onto a small canvas, like a 10"x12", to get it in focus you have to pull the lens housing almost all the way out of the projector, so it's almost hanging out and drooping--the option is to use a smaller original, but then you sacrifice detail for size; there's no way to project vertically down onto a work surface, unless you rig something--so it's horizontal onto a wall or vertical easel
Overall: it's okay...if you want/need a cheap solution for occasional use it will work; if you're going to do a lot of reproduction work with a lot of detail and don't want to be restricted to working in near dark conditions, pay more and get a better projector--I got what I paid for and it works-- but I'm thinking I should have gotten a better one.

Projector Jan 26, 2011
By Paula Brymer I ordered the Artograph Projector to use for some home projects. It was delivered quickly. I have used it and it works great. You need a really dark room to use it in. I would buy one that is of higher quality if I were going to sell my work, but it is fine for home craft projects.
Perfection in reproduction..... Jan 17, 2012
By Rayzer in Los Angeles I recently purchased my tracer after having borrowed one from a friend for about a year....LOl....I really love how it alllows me to be a better artist then I am presently, I have done drawings for my parents and friends for gifts and they are amazed at what they get..... I always get "the question"...Did you do this ? and I tell them.... Yes.... I did... I just don't tell them how unless I feel like it..... if you love to draw and have a bit of patience for attention to detail then I strongly recommend this product as a gift for yourself or a loved one ....there is something so exciting about sitting in the Dark working on a piece and not really knowing how good it is until you turn on the lights.....ha hah hah hah....it's a trip. Rock on ArtoGraph. The rest of you.... buy this product... the light bulb is florescent and doesnt get as hot as regular ones and it works on almost any medium as long as the piece your reproducing is in decent shape and your drawing platforms are sturdy and still and you can get your room dark enough to really see everything easily.... it's a lock. Art is gonna save the world. Start out with you.
