A helpful tool for hand lettering cartoons or plans. Feb 19, 2010
By Can San Trantow This is a nice little helper. I found the instructions a little complicated, but after I played with the lettering guide for an hour or so, I figured out how it would best work for me. I use it to draw the lines for lettering cartoons and find it saves me a great deal of time. I can recommend it to anyone who is frequently drawing pencil lines as a preparation for hand lettering in a consistent size.

Works, but the instructions are confusing Feb 16, 2010

I bought this item because I am learning calligraphy to do my wedding invitations. The instructions for the lettering guide are very confusing and there aren't any pictures to help explain. Good product, just not sure how to use it. Wouldn't really recommend for a beginner but would work for somebody that actually knows what they are doing.

Standard Lettering Guide at a Great Price Aug 23, 2011
By Pixelated After searching around town and coming up empty-handed, I was happy to find an Ames lettering guide here on Amazon. The guide is made of durable plastic and comes with a protective plastic sleeve. I use the guide for creating uniform lettering in my zine mock-ups. No complaints.

A handy little tool Oct 25, 2011

The Ames Lettering Guide is for lettering in comics or graphic novels, and it helps you to draw guiding lines for drawing the letters by hand. It is obviously easier to do lettering with a computer, but lettering by hand has also a certain flair. The Ames tool needs quite a bit of experience to be really useful, so it makes only sense if you plan to do a lot of lettering manually.
