dependible long lasting discs Apr 13, 2011

I've been doing a lot of metal work lately and I first bought a set of harbor freight roloc disc only b/c I couldn't find anybody locally selling roloc discs by the box. Oreilly's sales them only individually??? I found that the HF screw pad's weren't always bonded on center and the disc did not have a thick paper base like the 3M discs. This caused the HF discs to fold over and "load up" instead of flex and wear down. I've been almost thru this whole box and they have proved to be far more durable and well constructed. When I wear them down on the 2" backer I use the 1" backer to get even more use out of them.
When grinding body welds I start with a 60-80 grit flap disc on my angle grinder to rough the welds down quickly then follow up with these discs to detail finish the weld.
